  • World ranking 7
  • Televised titles 101
  • Non-Televised PDC Titles 76
  • Televised nine dart finishes 11

THE greatest player ever to throw a dart, Phil's achievements across over 25 years at the top of the sport are unrivalled, including 16 World Championship triumphs, 15 World Matchplay wins and 11 World Grand Prix titles in the sport's most successful career.

A qualifier when he won the 1990 World Championship, defeating mentor Eric Bristow in the final, Taylor recaptured the title two years later before the formation of the PDC saw the Stoke ace embark on an incredible run.

Taylor won eight successive World Championships from 1995-2002 as he dominated the sport, raising the standard to new levels in the process.

His achievements also included the PDC's first live televised nine-dart finish at the 2002 World Matchplay during a run of five straight Blackpool wins - a record he bettered with seven successive titles from 2008-2014.

He was also unbeaten in the first four years of Premier League Darts from 2005-2008 and has taken his tally of victories in that event to six since, including the unforgettable 2010 final against James Wade where Taylor hit two nine-dart finishes - the only time in history that a player has achieved that feat in one game.

Taylor has also enjoyed six Grand Slam of Darts victories since that event was introduced in 2007, won five Las Vegas Desert Classic titles from 2002-2009 and four World Cups alongside Adrian Lewis, while his success on the PDC's World Series of Darts circuit since the introduction of the concept in 2013 has included four successive Sydney Darts Masters wins, including a nine-darter during the 2015 event.

The runner-up in the 2010 BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards, Taylor's achievements throughout a remarkable career have been recognised worldwide.

2014 saw Taylor achieve two nine-dart finishes in one UK Open Qualifier, which he fittingly won after achieving another darting "first", while he was the winner of the inaugural Champions League of Darts event in 2016.

In January 2017, Taylor announced his intention to retire from competitive darts following the 2018 World Championship - but showed that he can still beat the best in the business by claiming a record-extending 16th World Matchplay title in July, seeing off rivals Raymond van Barneveld, Michael van Gerwen, Adrian Lewis and Peter Wright on his way to glory.
